SCHOOL CURRICULUM INTENT
Staff and governors at St Aidan’s Catholic Primary Academy believe the development of pupils, spiritually, morally and socially plays a significant part in their ability to learn and achieve. We aim to provide an education that provides children with opportunities to explore and develop their own values and beliefs, spiritual awareness, high standards of behaviour, a positive caring attitude towards others and an appreciation of the diversity of our school. This is embedded throughout all aspects of school life through the use of our values such as love, respect, unity, friendship, honesty, kindness, tolerance, patience, appreciation, courage, trust and understanding.
Our Curriculum
AT ST AIDAN’S CATHOLIC PRIMARY ACADEMY, WE WANT OUR CHILDREN TO EXPERIENCE A CURRICULUM:
• Where our strong Catholic ethos permeates through life, providing the children with a safe, calm and nurturing environment.
• That has knowledge and vocabulary at the heart of their learning.
• That is rich and enables children to see the world from a range of different perspectives.
• Where knowledge underpins and enables the application of skills.
• Where the needs of all children are catered for
• Where we have clear and consistent methods for celebrating success
• That offers opportunities to delve deeper into their learning through progression of skills.
• That equips children with the knowledge of how to live healthy lifestyles – both physically and mentally. • That promotes and reflects British Values.
• Where spiritual, moral and social are interwoven in all that we do.
• That enables children to connect to the past, live in the present and look to the future
