Last Thursday we had World Book Day.  Everyone dressed up as characters from books and we had a whole school assembly.  Two children from each class were awarded a certificate for most imaginative costume.  In the afternoon our teachers swapped classes and and read a story to a different class.

We are delighted that the school community managed to exceed our target of £500 raised at our book fair.  Well done everyone and thanks for your support! A big thank you to Ms Williams for organising a lovely day.

We had our final assembly for this year from the Mad Science team on the 10th May 2019.

This time they were represented by Quasar Chris. On this occasion he showed us the difference between physical and chemical reactions. The first thing he showed us was using different coloured liquids and small tubes. Some of the children got to hold test tubes which were filled with different coloured liquids and they were then asked what the different reactions were.

The second thing he showed us was what happens if you mix vinegar and bicarbonate of soda. Some children held bottles which were filled with the mixture and covered with a flat balloon.  A new set of children got to hold the bottles with the balloons on top and shake until the balloons were inflated. The whole school then voted on which one was the largest.

He finally put them all together in one large bottle and it looked just like a volcano. It was very exciting and the children learnt a lot.

Once again we really enjoyed the assembly and were all reminded of how much fun Science can be.
